Essence Festival of Culture organisers have confirmed Cardi B, Patti LaBelle, Brandy, and Monica as headliners for the 2026 edition.
The event will take place from July 3 to 5 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Organisers revealed the first wave of performers, highlighting a mix of established icons and contemporary artistes for the annual three-day celebration.
Contemporary Stars Join the Lineup
Hip-hop artiste Latto will make her festival debut alongside Cardi B, while Kehlani is also scheduled to perform.
Evening concerts inside the Superdome will feature these headliners, giving attendees performances spanning hip-hop, R&B, and soul.
Icons Return to the Essence Stage
Patti LaBelle returns after appearing at multiple previous editions, including the inaugural festival in 1995.
Brandy and Monica are scheduled to perform together, reprising their iconic collaboration on hits such as The Boy Is Mine.
Festival organisers stated that the lineup showcases influential women across generations and honours the impact of Black female artistes on contemporary music.
Festival Organisers Highlight Cultural Impact
In a statement, organisers said the programming “reflects artistes whose work has shaped R&B, soul, and contemporary hip-hop.”
They added that the edition blends veteran performers with contemporary stars, creating an experience designed for a diverse audience while celebrating cultural contributions.
Daytime Cultural Programming
Daytime programming will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and will include film screenings, author talks, and industry panels.

More Performers to Be Announced
Organisers have indicated that additional performers will be announced closer to the event.
