Adebola Williams has marked his 40th birthday anniversary with a Ramadan Iftar dinner for friends and well-wishers. The gathering was attended by friends and family at Eko Atlantic City in Lagos.
Adebola Williams, popularly known as Debola Lagos, is a co-founder of RED | For Africa. He is also a co-founder of The Future Awards Africa and the online platform YNaija.
He led the successful media campaign for the election of Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. Known for his work in youth engagement and civic participation, Williams has been involved in several media and political communication projects across Africa.
Birthday Activities Begin With Church Service
Birthday celebrations had begun earlier in the day with a service at The Present House and culminated with the Iftar gathering to accommodate Muslim faithfuls observing the Ramadan fast.
The Iftar event was compèred by Hijabi Master of Ceremonies, Zainab Aderounmu.
Sermon and Prayers Mark the Gathering
Proceedings opened with a short sermon delivered by Islamic scholar and motivational speaker Imam Dhikrullah Sulaiman, who also led the opening prayer.
The cleric spoke briefly on faith, gratitude and the importance of prayer during the Ramadan period.
Following the sermon, guests joined the celebrant to break the fast before dinner was served. A prayer session was later held for Williams, with clerics and guests offering prayers for his continued guidance and impact.
Dignitaries and Friends in Attendance
Among dignitaries present at the event were Nollywood actors Femi Adebayo and Lateef Adedimeji, alongside other friends and associates.
The celebrant’s wife, Kehinde Williams, and daughter AriolaOluwa Williams led guests in rendering a birthday song to the celebrant, drawing applause from attendees.
Several friends and associates also shared brief remarks about Williams, speaking on his influence and contributions.
Call for Unity and Prayers for Nigeria
The celebrant, in his remarks, spoke about the need for unity across Nigeria and called for prayers for the nation. Another session of prayers was later dedicated specifically to Nigeria.
Adebola Williams Reflects on Turning 40
Speaking with HipTV, Adebola Williams reflected on the spiritual and personal significance of marking his 40th birthday during the holy month of Ramadan.
“I think I’m grateful to God for his grace and journey of mercy. I have been doing this for over ten years by breaking fast with my friends, brothers and sisters.”
Reflecting on the experiences that have shaped him over the past four decades, Williams noted how challenges and difficult moments influenced his journey and leadership path.
“I am proud to say that parts of my life where I faced immense pain and trials forced me to find my path. Those experiences shaped who I have become and helped me to see the good, the positivity, and the possibilities.”
Commitment to Positive Influence
Speaking on how he hopes to use his influence to inspire positive change, he said he remains conscious of the responsibility that comes with his platform.
“I know the responsibility I carry and so I am always using my influence to bring the kind of value I know can build Nigeria and drive unity to the continent.”
Expressing gratitude to those who joined him for the celebration, he added:
“I am truly grateful that people find me worthy enough to come together when I call.”
