Ty Dolla $ign Releases R&B EP Girl Music Vol. 1

Ty Dolla $ign has returned to his R&B roots with the release of Girl Music Vol. 1. The EP is a six-track extended play released on March 6, 2026 via Atlantic Records.

Clocking in at 17 minutes, the project is packed with melodic and soulful production, highlighting a shift from the rap-heavy collaborations of his previous work.

Concept Behind Girl Music Vol. 1

Labelled “Vol. 1”, the EP signals that it is the first instalment in a potential series of themed projects. Ty Dolla $ign explained that the concept was designed with a focus on R&B tracks that appeal to female listeners, while leaving room for additional volumes if the concept continues.

Ty Dolla $ign said in a press statement:

“This is only volume one… the music came together organically. It’s some of my favourite music I’ve made in a long time, and it’s shaped for the songs girls really want to hear.”

The quote highlights both the EP’s concept and its focus on melodic, live-instrument R&B.

Collaborations Across Generations

“Girl Music Vol. 1” features notable collaborations that span generations of R&B talent.

Ronald Isley contributes to the opening track, “Nobody Has to Know,” bringing a classic soul element. Brandy joins Ty on “Intention,” while rising star Leon Thomas appears on the lead single “Miss U 2.”

The collaborations give the EP a blend of nostalgia and contemporary style.

Solo Tracks on the EP

Solo tracks such as “3 Billion,” “Bad Alert,” and the closing track “Good to Me” showcase Ty Dolla $ign’s smooth vocals and playful yet polished production.

Ty Dolla $ign’s Impact on Modern R&B

Ty Dolla $ign has established himself as a key figure in modern R&B. He first gained wide recognition with hit singles such as Or Nah and Paranoid, as well as his earlier mixtapes and studio albums.

His first EP, Beach House EP, helped establish him in the music scene and laid the foundation for his continued influence in contemporary R&B.
