Britney Spears was arrested by the California Highway Patrol over an alleged driving under the influence offence.
The 44-year-old singer was booked into jail on Thursday and released shortly after. She is scheduled to appear in court on 4 May 2026.
Hospital Test Conducted After Traffic Stop
Following the traffic stop, Spears was transported to a nearby hospital for a standard blood draw to determine her blood alcohol content. She did not sustain any injuries during the stop.
Statement From Spears’ Manager
Spears’ manager, Cade Hudson, said the arrest was “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.”
He added:
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”
Hudson further stated that her family will support her and assist in planning her well-being.
Recent Restraining Order Case
The arrest comes shortly after Spears secured a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who allegedly appeared unannounced at her Los Angeles home.
Court documents indicate the man has a criminal history including convictions for criminal trespass, aggravated assault, and previous DUI charges. The court ordered him to remain at least 100 yards away from Spears until 2030.
Life After Conservatorship
Following the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021, Spears has been active on social media, sharing reflections about her family and personal experiences.
Music Catalogue Sale
In February, it was announced that Spears had sold the rights to her entire music catalogue, including her early hits. The transaction, completed in late 2025, transferred publishing and related rights to an independent music publisher, consolidating her ownership and future revenue from her recordings.
The deal was reported to be valued at approximately $200 million.
