Joao Pedro scored his first Premier League hat-trick as Chelsea F.C. came from behind to beat Aston Villa F.C. 4–1 on Wednesday.
Villa Strike Early
Villa’s Douglas Luiz struck inside two minutes after Leon Bailey’s scuffed cross fell kindly for the midfielder, who scored his first goal in more than two years.
Ollie Watkins later forced a sharp save from Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Chelsea Fights Back Before Half-Time
However, the visitors gradually took control and equalised in the 35th minute. Malo Gusto broke the offside trap and squared for Pedro to finish.
The Brazilian struck again deep into first-half stoppage time to give Chelsea the lead after Enzo Fernandez played him through with a perfectly weighted pass.
Villa briefly thought they had restored parity when Watkins found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Chelsea Seals the Victory
Chelsea tightened their grip after the break as Cole Palmer added a third when Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez pushed a cross straight into his path.
Pedro completed his hat-trick soon after, tapping in from close range after Alejandro Garnacho broke clear and squared the ball across goal.
Pedro Reacts to Special Night
“It’s a special night for me,” Pedro told reporters. “My hat-trick came in the right moment. After we lost to Arsenal F.C., we showed how much we want to achieve. Everyone wants to win every game, and it’s an important three points.”
The striker now has 14 Premier League goals this season, including nine in his last nine matches in all competitions.
Impact on the Premier League Table
The victory lifted Chelsea to fifth in the table with 48 points from 29 games.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa remain fourth on 51 points but continue to struggle with just two wins in their last nine league matches.
