Wolverhampton Wanderers teenager Tom Edozie scored a dramatic 94th-minute goal on his Premier League debut to secure a 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Wednesday, keeping the title race wide open. Arsenal made a fast start, with Bukayo Saka ending his 16-game goal drought after just four minutes, heading home a precise lofted pass from Declan Rice. The visitors doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half when Piero Hincapie latched onto Gabriel’s pass and lifted the ball over goalkeeper Jose Sa.
Wolves Fight Back
Wolves responded through Hugo Bueno, who curled a superb strike into the top corner from the edge of the box for his first Premier League goal. Momentum shifted as Arsenal, who have won only three of their last eight league games, struggled to regain control.
The late drama came deep into stoppage time. After a cross was spilled by David Raya, Edozie fired a low shot that deflected off Riccardo Calafiori and the post before crossing the line. The strike was initially recorded as an own goal but was later credited to the 19-year-old.
“The ball dropped to me and I tried to keep it as low as possible and just hit it as hard as I can. They couldn’t stop it, so it was my goal,” Edozie said.
Injury Concern For Arsenal
Saka left the match in the 73rd minute for treatment on a knee injury. The winger admitted Arsenal’s drop in intensity proved costly.
“Disappointed. Not much else to say,” Saka said.
“There was a big difference in how we played in the first half and the second half. We dropped our standards and we got punished for it. Time to focus on ourselves, improve our standards and improve our performances, it is in our control.”
Implications For The Title Race
Arsenal now sit on 58 points from 27 matches, five ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Wolves remain at the bottom of the table with 10 points from 27 games.
