Galatasaray produced a ruthless display on Tuesday night to defeat Juventus 5-2 in the first leg of their Champions League playoff.
Noa Lang and Gabriel Sara were central to a scintillating attacking performance that overwhelmed the Italian side and handed the Turkish champions a commanding advantage ahead of the return leg.
Fast Start And End-To-End First Half
The hosts struck first in the 15th minute when Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara unleashed a thunderous long-range effort that left goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio with no chance.
Juventus responded almost immediately, equalising a minute later as Teun Koopmeiners converted a rebound following Pierre Kalulu’s header.
The visitors edged in front in the 32nd minute. Koopmeiners doubled his tally with a driven strike from outside the box after being picked out by Weston McKennie.
Tempers flared before halftime, with coach Luciano Spalletti booked for dissent as tensions rose.
Galatasaray Turn The Game Around
Galatasaray levelled soon after the restart when Noa Lang slotted home a rebound from Baris Alper Yilmaz’s effort.
The comeback was complete on the hour mark as Davinson Sanchez turned in a precise Sara set-piece delivery.
Juventus’ night worsened in the 67th minute when substitute Juan Cabal received a second yellow card for a reckless challenge, reducing the Italian side to ten men.
Osimhen Inspires Late Surge
With the numerical advantage, Galatasaray pressed forward relentlessly.
Victor Osimhen threaded a sublime pass for Lang to make it 4-2 in the 75th minute, before setting up substitute Sacha Boey for a fierce late finish.
The emphatic victory gives Galatasaray a strong cushion heading into the second leg in Italy on February 25.
