Brandon Ingram Replaces Stephen Curry In All-Star Game

Toronto’s Brandon Ingram will feature in the NBA All-Star Game after being selected by Commissioner Adam Silver as a replacement for injured Golden State guard Stephen Curry on the USA Stripes team for Sunday’s showcase in Los Angeles.

Curry, who was voted an All-Star starter by fans, will miss the game due to what Warriors coach Steve Kerr described as “runner’s knee.”

Second All-Star Appearance For Ingram

The selection marks Ingram’s second All-Star appearance. He previously earned the honour in 2020 while with the New Orleans Pelicans. That same season, he captured the NBA’s Most Improved Player award.

Ingram has been a key figure for the Raptors this season, serving as the leading scorer for the fifth-seeded team in the Eastern Conference.

Strong Season With The Raptors

Ingram secured the selection while averaging 22 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He finished 10th in Eastern Conference fan voting and eighth among players.

New USA vs World All-Star Format

This year’s All-Star Game introduces a new USA vs World format. The 24 selected players have been divided into three teams: USA Stripes, USA Stars and the World Team, competing in a round-robin tournament featuring four 12-minute games.

Each team will play at least two games, with the top two advancing to a championship matchup. If teams are tied, point differential will determine the finalists.

The 75th NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 15.
