Victor Wembanyama delivered a commanding all-around performance as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks 135-123 on Thursday night. The win extended the Spurs’ winning streak to three games.
The Spurs star finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three blocked shots, anchoring an impressive road victory.
Fast Start Sets The Tone For Spurs
Wembanyama set the tone early, scoring San Antonio’s first 10 points and finishing the half with 20. He knocked down his first three attempts from beyond the arc as the Spurs built momentum with a 21-4 run in the second quarter.
San Antonio briefly trailed midway through the period but regrouped to carry a 74-63 advantage into halftime.
Spurs Hold Off Late Mavericks Push
San Antonio led by 11 at the break and survived a late Mavericks rally after Dallas cut the deficit to 96-93 entering the fourth quarter. Naji Marshall’s jumper with 4:09 remaining trimmed the lead to one.
However, Stephon Castle responded with a deep three-pointer, and Wembanyama took control down the stretch. He converted key free throws and produced a decisive block on Daniel Gafford to seal the win.
Balanced San Antonio Effort
Harrison Barnes added 19 points for the Spurs, while Keldon Johnson scored 18 and De’Aaron Fox contributed 17 in a balanced team performance.
For Dallas, Naji Marshall led the way with a season-high 32 points. Max Christie added 20, and Daniel Gafford posted 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Cooper Flagg Makes NBA History
The night also featured a historic achievement from rookie Cooper Flagg, who scored 32 points to become the youngest player in NBA history with four consecutive 30-point games.
Flagg joined Michael Jordan as the only rookies to record at least 30 points and five rebounds in four straight outings.
