Tory Lanez has submitted new court documents alleging problems with medical records used during his trial for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The filing forms part of his ongoing appeal following his conviction and ten-year prison sentence. The filing focuses on how hospital records were documented and disclosed during the proceedings.
Questions Raised Over Medical Records and Undisclosed Evidence
At the heart of the rapper’s petition is a report prepared by a software specialist who reviewed the medical records from the night Megan was treated in hospital. The report claims there were sixty errors in the records presented during the 2022 trial. The defence says the issues affect how the evidence was shown to the jury.
A key issue raised in the filing concerns a document titled “EVIDENCE,” which the defence states was not included in the trial materials. The report claims the document records that a hospital security guard bagged and transferred foreign objects described as bullet fragments. During the trial, detectives testified that no bullet fragments were recovered at the hospital where Megan received treatment.
Alleged Technical Irregularities, Missing Testimony and Defence Response
The report also lists multiple technical irregularities within the medical files. These include altered or overwritten text, non-functioning QR codes, inconsistent formatting, repeated pages, missing pages, and conflicting dates and times. The defence further alleges that approximately three hundred pages of medical records were not provided to them during the trial.
The filing also addresses the absence of testimony from the surgeon identified as Dr. Little. The surgeon did not testify during the trial, and the defence now states that he cannot be located. This point has been included as part of the challenge to the presentation of medical evidence.
Speaking during his first on-camera interview from prison, Tory Lanez said that his defence team “were never provided with hundreds of pages of Megan’s medical records.”
