Beyoncé is set to make a major return to fashion’s most-watched red carpet. The Grammy-winning singer has been tapped to co-chair the 2026 Met Gala with Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams. The gala will take place on 4 May 2026 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The event’s theme, “Costume Art”, will anchor both the gala and the accompanying exhibition curated by Andrew Bolton. The exhibition will explore clothing and the human body. It will highlight themes such as the naked body, the ageing body, and the pregnant body.
Beyoncé is making a high-profile return after a decade away from the Met steps. In her last appearance in 2016, she wore a latex-look Givenchy design that closely followed the “Manus x Machina” theme.
Her new leadership role places her at the centre of a major fashion year, reinforcing her longstanding impact on global culture, style, and red-carpet spectacle. Beyoncé has often blended simplicity with high fashion, famously elevating even a white T-shirt and jeans.
Beyoncé’s appointment signals a strategic shift toward broader creative influence within the gala. As co-chair, she will help shape the mood, direction, and tone of an event known for setting cultural standards in fashion and art.
