Napoli returned to the summit of Serie A after a dramatic 2–1 home win over Juventus on Sunday. Both goals were scored by Rasmus Højlund.
The hosts struck early in the 7th minute. A surging run down the right by David Neres left Juventus defenders trailing. Neres squared the ball into the box for Højlund, who slid in to steer it home.
Napoli controlled large portions of the first half and created several chances. Just before halftime, Scott McTominay made a header that grazed the post.
The match pace picked up after the break. Juventus equalized just before the hour mark. A swift break saw Kenan Yildiz receive the ball in the box and fire a low strike into the far corner in the 59th minute.
That resurgence by Juve was short-lived. In the 78th minute, Højlund was on hand again. A cross into the box caused chaos in the Juventus defence. The Dane reacted quickest, nodding home from close range after a failed clearance.
Despite late pressure from Juventus, Napoli held firm. The win lifts Napoli to 31 points, one ahead of Inter Milan, while Juventus remains seventh with 23.
