Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has been reprimanded by the National Basketball Association after a courtside confrontation with a fan. This occurred during Sunday night’s 124-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, though no fine was assessed.

The incident occurred when the fan, identified as Sam Green, repeatedly shouted “Angel Reese” at Green after missed shots in the early part of the game. The taunt referenced the WNBA player known for rebounding, and Green took issue with being compared to a woman. He later told reporters: “It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way.”

Green approached the fan during a stoppage in play before an NBA official stepped in and defused the situation.

Coach Steve Kerr backed his player’s right to engage but suggested the arena’s security response could have been faster. He remarked: “As long as it doesn’t escalate, it’s fine … it would have been nice if security had gotten there a little bit earlier.”

Green is no newcomer to league sanctions, having previously been fined for flipping off a fan in Memphis in 2022. Later that year, he was hit with a $25,000 penalty for using “obscene language” toward a fan in Dallas. “It’s fine. We move on,” Green said.
