Shakira has made history as the first artiste to receive the Billboard Global Touring Icon Award. The honor was presented virtually to the Colombian singer on Monday from backstage at her sold-out concert in Bogotá, Colombia.
The award, unveiled at the 2025 Billboard Live Music Summit, celebrates her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which is now officially the highest-grossing Latin tour by a woman in history. The tour which was organized by Live Nation began on February 11th in Rio de Janeiro. The tour has since then grossed $327.4 million and sold 2.5 million tickets across its first 64 of 82 scheduled dates.
Shakira accepted the award, dedicating the accolade to her team. “This is for my team—dancers, band, crew—who work as hard as I do,” she said. “I feel like I’m just starting my career.”
Marty Hom, her longtime tour director, presented the award in a pre-recorded video, noting the singer’s dedication: “We get to witness every day how hard you work to do the best show possible for all your fans.”
The record-breaking run includes 12 sold-out stadium shows in Mexico City, which accounted for 780,000 tickets. The tour ranks as the second-highest-grossing Latin tour overall, trailing only Luis Miguel’s $409.5 million 2023-2024 run. Shakira has 18 dates remaining through December in Latin America, with additional European legs unannounced.
