The discussion around loyalty and street credibility in hip-hop took another turn after rapper 6ix9ine defended Drake during a recent livestream debate.
During an online session with YouTuber Trap Lore Ross, 6ix9ine reacted to a long-standing rumours that Drake once cooperated in a 2009 robbery case. The conversation emerged as both entertainers created a “snitch tier list,” ranking rappers accused of cooperating with authorities in the past.
Ross reminded viewers that Drake had once addressed those old rumours in his song “Family Matters,” a diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar. Many believed Kendrick had mentioned the same issue earlier in his track “euphoria.” Drake later denied the claims, saying they were false and misunderstood.
6ix9ine explained that Drake’s background makes his situation different from rappers linked to the streets. He said Drake, being Jewish and a former actor, should not face the same criticism. The New York artist added that there are “levels” to snitching depending on lifestyle and background.
According to 6ix9ine, Drake belongs in the lowest part of the list because he is not a street figure. He jokingly said, “He’s an actor, not a gangster.”
