The Philadelphia 76ers pulled out a 128-122 home victory over the Houston Rockets on Thursday.
Tyrese Maxey scored 36 points and handed out 10 assists. Joel Embiid posted a triple-double with 32 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists to anchor the win.
Kelly Oubre Jr. added 26 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting night for Philadelphia.
Late Drama In Regulation
Houston led 107-101 with four minutes left in regulation. Maxey took over, scoring 11 points down the stretch to tie the game at 115-115 with 40.1 seconds remaining.
A controversial moment followed when Maxey’s late layup was ruled a clean block despite replays showing goaltending. Philadelphia could not challenge due to an inadvertent whistle, sending the game into overtime.
Overtime Finish
In the extra period, Maxey again delivered. He broke a tie with a driving layup before Oubre extended the lead.
After Kevin Durant’s jumper cut the deficit to two, Maxey sealed the win with two free throws and a transition dunk.
Durant finished with 36 points. The loss snapped Houston’s three-game winning streak.
